Privacy Policy for Pole Vault Journal
Summary (plain English)
- We don’t sell your data.
- We don’t track you across other apps or websites.
- Your journal entries are stored on your device and, if you enable iCloud, synced privately with your iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit.
- We only collect the minimum data needed for the app to work.
What data we collect
1) Journal content you create
What: session notes, pole selections, run-up, grip, heights, PRs, media you attach (if supported).
Where it lives: on your device and, if enabled, in iCloud/CloudKit under your Apple ID.
Why: to provide core functionality—create, view, edit, and sync your pole vault journal.
2) Diagnostic/analytics data (optional)
What: anonymized crash logs and basic usage diagnostics (if you opt in at the system level).
Who provides it: Apple may provide aggregated analytics to developers if you opt into Share iPhone & Watch Analytics in iOS settings.
Why: to improve stability and performance.
How to turn off: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
3) Support communications
What: if you email us, we collect your email and the message you send.
Why: to respond to your support request.
Retention: kept as long as needed to resolve your request and for reasonable record-keeping.
What we do not collect
- No precise location data.
- No contacts, calendars, or photos unless you explicitly attach media within the app.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA).
- No third‑party ad SDKs.
- No cross‑app or cross‑site tracking.
iCloud / CloudKit details
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in Apple’s iCloud infrastructure and linked to your Apple ID. Apple acts as the service provider for storage and sync. We (the developer) do not receive your iCloud credentials. Access to your synced data is governed by iOS and iCloud permissions. You can disable iCloud for the app at any time in Settings.
Account & sign‑in
This app does not require an in‑app account. You may use your Apple ID only for iCloud sync at the system level. Because we do not operate a separate account system, there is no in‑app “Delete Account” function. If a future update adds accounts, we will add in‑app account deletion and update this policy accordingly.
Data retention and deletion
- On device: your data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- In iCloud: your data remains until you delete it from the app or disable iCloud and remove its data from iCloud settings.
- Email/support: retained only as long as reasonably necessary for support and legal obligations.
You can delete entries individually inside the app. You can also remove all iCloud data for the app from Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Children’s privacy
Pole Vault Journal is intended for users 13+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use platform security features provided by Apple (sandboxing, Keychain, CloudKit auth). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data within the app’s scope.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your data. We do not share personal information with third parties except:
- Service providers: Apple iCloud/CloudKit for storage and sync.
- Legal: when required by law or to protect our rights and users.
Your rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Most data is stored locally/iCloud and is under your control. For any developer‑held data (e.g., support emails), contact us at support@example.com.
International users
Your data may be processed and stored on your device and Apple’s servers in your region or other regions where Apple operates iCloud infrastructure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above and, if changes are significant, may provide an in‑app notice.
